I'm reading a great book right now entitled Anxious About Empire. It's a must read for those concerned with American Imperialism. In the first essay, Robert Bellah points out that the epigraph to section three of the National Security Strategy contains the following quote from President Bush.

So what God has promised in the consummation, we will deliver on this side of glory, and still cut taxes. Wow!
I like your blog. Great job. However, your wit on this last post interests me. Are you saying that this is not something we should try to do? Shouldn't believers fight for justice on earth? I understand the President is limiting his commentary to the war on terrorism, but what about genocide, in the case of Rwanda and Darfur? Should we pursue justice, even if it is with the "sticks", or do we step back and rest in peace that God will have justice in the "Consummation"?
